During this time of year I try to do a lot of reflecting. I think about our wonderful family, people less fortunate than we are, and how grateful I am for all that I have. Without the love of family and friends where would we be? The love and support that we share is what keeps us going. Although there may be many miles that separate us physically, we still share thoughts and pictures and reach out however we can to stay in touch with loved ones and friends. My hope for our family and friends this year is that we get to share more time together. We love you all, and you are always in our thoughts and prayers.

Fall Planting
More grass seeding happening on the border of this recently planted flower bed.
A recent planting for a bare shady spot.
A Plumeria attempting to survive the ravages of two digging dogs.
Terry built this planter for me early in the spring of 2008.
Magnificent Mandevilla!
Another partially shady spot that desperately needed color and a focal point...the grass is coming in!
Gardening is one of my outlets. When I clear a space, amend and enrich the soil, plant or sow seeds, fertilize, and see the results, it satisfies my urge to beautify my space. Sometimes it works, and other times...we'll just call it experimentation! I am reading a book that my mother gave me called Creating Eden by Marilyn Barrett, Ph.D. Doctor Barrett uses the garden as her "healing space". It is very insightful and creatively written.

Another birthday
Yesterday was my birthday. It started with Ian's soccer game at 8:30, which he played magnificently...really I'm not just bragging from a mom's perspective, he really played an awesome game!!! It was a payback game, they won the first game of the season, and really had fun.
Then came Kayleigh's soccer game, which she played really, really well also. She has decided that goalie is her favorite position.
Next was a shopping trip for the kids with Terry. They returned with three beautiful plants for me. A bougainvillea, which I love, a lovely orange hibiscus, and a very unique shefflera plant that has a braided trunk. How fortunate I am to have children that know me so well! I also recieved an interesting looking book from my dear friend Heather Draper. Thanks Heather! I'll post a review when I have a chance to finish reading it!
Finally, Terry and I were able to go out for a fabulous dinner at Calypso's, which has become one of our favorite eating places. I have to say that if I have to be another year older, I also have to thank my family for being so loving and caring. Also, thanks mom and Geordan for being there to share my day and take care of the kids so we could enjoy a dinner out.

Welcome!
Okay, so I decided to follow the inspiration of two of my very good friends that recently created their own blogs. I am hoping that it will be a way to stay closer in touch with those of you who are dear, but not so near. Stay tuned for pictures of my fabulous family, my various crafts and art, the neverending garden project, and home improvement progress.
